Announced Conferences 2006

International Conference   September 27th - 30th, 2006

Scientific Purpose:

The main purpose of EFYRA is to bring together scientists from solar, stellar physics and cosmology fields.

The conference's aim is also to celebrate fifty years of Romanian researches, which started with the preparations for the International Geophysical Year, as well as to highlight the Romanian researchers in the European context of integration.

The sessions of the conference and the invited speakers are:

• Magnetic structures on the Sun - Jan Olof Stenflo (invited)
• Solar and stellar winds - Christophe Sauty (invited)
• Waves, oscillations, cyclicities - J.L. Ballester (invited)
• From geophysical to heliophysical international year - Joseph M. Davila (invited)
• Asteroseismology - A. Baglin (invited)
• Stellar astrophysics - E. Rovithis (invited)
• Extragalactic astronomy and cosmology - Ch. Balkowski (invited)

We have a special guest as key speaker, Dr. Z. Mouradian, who began his carrier in our Observatory.

Presentation :

Because of the large participation expected, the presentation time for the contributions is limited to 30 minutes for the invited lectures and to 15 minutes for all other talks. These limits may be updated in the future, depending on the final number of registered participants. Posters sessions with short oral presentation will be scheduled too.

Conference Proceedings:

The volume will be published in the AIP conferences series, editors C. Dumitrache, N.A. Popescu, M.D. Suran.

Schedule and social events:

We plan three full days of work and a fourth day with an excursion (probably to Dracula Castle at Bran).

Conference site and accomodation:

The conference hall and accommodation will be hosted in the same hotel.

The hotel - airport transportation will be carried out by the hotel bus for a small fee.

The Hotel Caro is situated in the North residential part of Bucharest, at 10 minutes from downtown Bucharest and at 20 minutes from Henry Coanda Airport (Otopeni). The shore of Tei Lake and the luxuriant vegetation surrounding the hotel are creating an extremely pleasant ambiance. It is one of the most requested hotels due to its quiet surroundings, modern facilities and quality service.

Participants are advised to make hotel reservation through the Conference Secretariat at reduced rates (listed on conference site). Participants will pay accommodation, meal, coffee breaks, official dinner and the excursion directly at the hotel during the conference. A small tax for the volume expedition will be charged.

The Eastern people are advised to use the bilateral collaboration between institutes, if existing.
